Last year, I was scheduled to be at Potomac Jazz and Seafood Festival, but at 8 am, the festival was
canceled due to a rainstorm that flooded the area. The festival returned this year with 90-degree heat,
and lucky, the summer rainstorm blew in the opposite direction. This year my camera captured
Southern Maryland natives Groovespan, Latrice Carr, and national jazz recording artists Kim Waters
and Brian Simpson. The artists brought to the stage family members and surprise guests.
The event attendees could purchase food and drinks from local artists and sit under the tree to cool
down.
The event started with the band Groovespan then, followed by Latrice Carr. Momma Carr took the mic
at the end of the set and showed the crowd who gave Latrice her singing pipes. Brian Simpson graces
the stage next with saxophonist Jazmin Ghent. Kim Waters ended the festival and played a few songs
with his daughter, jazz pianist Kyla Waters, who had just released a new cd.
